The Bearded Baker was born in 2015, when Rowan started making his now famous bagels from his home kitchen, delivering them to local cafes on foot. He branched into doughnuts, sourdough and vegan cinnamon rolls when he’d perfected the methods for each, and our bakery was opened by Rowan and Julia in 2017.

​We’re a small but dedicated team of friendly bakers and baristas who value quality and good service above all else. You’ll find Rowan (the bearded one himself) baking away in the godless hours of every morning, making sure we serve up only the freshest bagels and treats to our loyal clientele (and anyone else who drops in).

We’ve WiFi in store and we’re proud to say our wee bakery is the canine hub of Canonmills. Bring your dog and she’ll absolutely make some friends (and maybe get a couple of biscuits too). Since we had our own wean we’ve been proud to make sure our small cafe is a breastfeeding-friendly place as well.
